Mykola Tomenko: One should read Mykola Hohol, but not earn Money on the Celebration of his Anniversary

 

Mykola Tomenko made the above-mentioned statement in the "Radio-ERA" program dwelling upon the results of celebration of the 200th anniversary of birth of Mykola Hohol. 

 

M.Tomenko considers the project "Hohol and Ukraine" held by his Fund as successful and useful, as the project was highly appreciated both by the experts, and the citizens. The project covered social outdoor advertisement dedicated to the 200th anniversary of birth of a writer with the patriotic statements of M.Hohol about Ukraine. Totally, more than 300 billboards were placed in eight cities of Ukraine, including Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, Poltava, Nizhyn and others.

 

M.Tomenko also appraised the event held by the National Radio Broadcasting Company of Ukraine jointly with his Fund. It was the radio presentation of fragments of M.Hohol´s works concerning the phenomenon of Ukrainian Cossacks, peculiarities of Ukrainian songs, folk customs, mode of life and culture recited by People´s Artist Anatoliy Palamerenko.

 

"As far as my book is concerned, it is an author´s scientific-popular edition, an attempt to comprehend the contribution of Mykola Hohol into Ukrainian history and culture, to understand the correlation of concepts: Hohol and Ukraine, and I expect positive comments of the readers", - stated M.Tomenko

 

Commenting upon the State events held on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of birth of the writer, M.Tomenko told about the recently obtained information, according to which "the officials managed to discard 300 thousand UAH for the holding of a holiday concert in one of the villages of Poltava region".

 

"Therefore, one may have an impression that Ukraine failed to hold any interesting, special, useful events to promote creative heritage of our great compatriot", - stated the Vice-Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
